Enclosed shelters in the Smøla archipelago – a boost for paddlers

At Smøla Kajakk, we’re passionate about creating great experiences on the water. That’s why we would love to see more enclosed shelters out in the archipelago – the same type as the one we already have at our camp.
Why? Because paddlers deserve a place to escape both midges and rough weather. In August and September, midges can be a real challenge, and an enclosed shelter makes all the difference after a long day in the kayak. It also provides safe and comfortable protection when the weather suddenly turns – something every coastal paddler knows can happen quickly.
We have therefore presented this idea to Smøla Nærings- og Kultursenter KF, which is now working to establish more shelters around Smøla. This won’t just improve paddling experiences; it will also strengthen outdoor life and tourism throughout the municipality.
We’re excited for what’s ahead – and for being able to offer even more good, safe, and bug-free breaks out in the open sea.
